Arnel Pineda’s life to be turned into a movie

Oh wow, indeed.

The life of Arnel Pineda, the Pinoy lead singer of American band Journey, will be turned into a movie, confirmed entertainment website Deadline.com.

And even better: "Crazy Rich Asians" director Jon Chu is teaming up with Warner Bros for the project. In a statement sent to Deadline, Jon Chu said:

“This story in particular has been on my mind since I first read about it years ago. A true fairy tale and triumph of the human spirit. An unlikely hero, an undeniable talent, the power of music and a worldwide stage (literally) has all the ingredients I love about movies. Plus I have been a fan of Journey’s music since I can remember. I am excited to be bringing the audience along on this incredible story with my partners at Warner Bros who have been a leading champion of diverse voices in front and behind the camera.”

According to the Deadline report, Warner Bros is currently negotiating to license original Journey songs, which were mostly written by Steve Perry and Neal Schon. "Warner Bros has acquired rights to 'Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey'," the report continued.

Arnel Pineda’s life is a truly inspiring story. The homeless Pinoy was discovered by Neal Schon on YouTube, which resulted in Arnel fronting Journey and becoming a global superstar.

The movie, according to Deadline, will be produced by Marty Bowen. They are currently looking for a writer, too.

On Twitter, Jon Chu posted the link to the Deadline story and simply captioned it, "Don't stop..."

Meanwhile on Instagram, Arnel Pineda posted a screengrab of the story and humbly said, "If this article is even just half-true, I'm quite honored."

On Twitter, Arnel said he hopes "it pushes where it really belongs...out there...on a big silver screen."
